NEW YORK, October 13, 2012 – Continuing the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Naoko Takeuchi’s manga masterpiece, SAILOR MOON, Kodansha is pleased to announce that The Sailor Moon Art Book will be released simultaneously throughout the world next year.
The Sailor Moon Art Book joins previous announcements about the future of Sailor Moon that include a new anime series, currently planned to debut next year. This new art book will feature Takeuchi’s most popular work selected from five Sailor Moon art books which had been previously published in Japan. It will also include several unpublished original drawings!
The Sailor Moon Art Book will be released in The United States, Japan, and five other countries simultaneously. Each country’s edition will be a trade paperback with dust jacket, in full color, and will have original, special bonus material. The trim size and page count will be identical for all seven releases.
Sailor Moon fans around the world can look forward to this amazing art book next year! Don’t miss it!

I’m soo excited!!! I never got the chance to buy the copy from TokyoPop. This will be well worth the wait.
What Tokyopop edition? Tokyopop never released any of the artbooks in English….
If this book has any artwork of Parallel Sailormoon, I will sincerely cry tears of joy. I’ve been waiting for news like this, I’m so happy right now!!
You guys have just literally made me scream! I am a huge sailor moon collector, and I’ve been waiting for a good announcement of something awesome to collect for a long time. This seems to just be the start! Is the unpublished art, new art from Naoko this year? Or is it older art that just never been published?
Either way this is all so exciting, and I hope to see Bandai hop on board soon with a new line of toys in Japan (and possibly here?!) Long live SAILOR MOON!
So excited! My guesses for the 5 mystery countries:
UK (definitely)
Australia
Canada
China
And um…
France?
More like Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Korea. Nice try though
Nice. I hope it has some correctly translated liner notes on the artwork. I hope it includes some rarer items as well. As for the boxed sets of the new manga editions (at least in English), how about offering people with the books already to be able to order the boxes without the books? I’m sure that could be possible.
They’ve stated that the editions for the box set are a different size. The manga that’s already out won’t fit in those boxes.
screaming omfg!!!!!!!!!!!! this just made my day i f-ing can’t wait so excited!!
I am huge of the Manga series. And recently I saw Sailor Moon. I must admit that it is a clear masterpiece.
WTF?! I NEED THE NEW BOOK!!!
He grant ummmm all the books probably came out…
I love love love Sailor Moon!! I don’t have all the books because I don’t know where to find it all!! D:
Omg, i’m so excited!!! I had to sell my Artbook #5 due to college book fees T_T I’ve regretted it ever since! I can’t wait till they’re released!!!
I hope they don’t cost a lot of money.
